Iron Chef Competition
In our Iron Chef Competition, we were given Five ingredients much like the TV show Chopped and we had to make a dish, and along with it a poster and video. The five ingredients for my group were pita bread, ground beef, dried apricots, eggplant, and whole milk. We decided to make a sweet and savory dish of ice cream with an apricot syrup for the sweet and a Ground beef and eggplant meatball for the savory. These were both served over a pita chip. We prepared for this competition by doing several smaller cooking challenges and learning about food and how it is what it is.
This is my group's Modernist Cuisine poster. We explain the science behind some of the cooking we did for our dish.
This is a link to my group's video. We show here how we made our dish in the form of a fancy video.
I am very proud of my group and how we did. We ended up getting 1st place in the competition and I was very happy about that. We tried to be very creative and have a cool presentation for our dish, and also make it taste great. I have become a much better cook as a result of this project and I have learned tons about food and the science behind food. The only place I would have liked to improve would have been to have kept our meatballs hot rather than having to reheat them because it dried them out.
