book of us
Our Book Of Us Project was a project where we make the namesake book out of essays that everyone in the class writes. In our classes case, we wrote non-fiction articles. Mine was about Donald trump and is he should be seriously considered as a presidential candidate. It will later get published, and we will get too say we helped write a published book.
Here is our Real-world Writing Purposes “Field Guide”. We used it in the initial stages of the project to study other pieces of writing and decide what category we would enter.
This is a link to my 1 Topic = 18 Topics sheet. We used it to expand our horizons and find more specific topics starting from a broad one. I went with "Why is Trump so popular?''
This is a link to two of my "Five Minute Quick-writes." We used these to help us see the expanses that the purposes from the "Field Guide" contained.
This is a link to my down draft. This was the first draft we did of our papers after about a month of build up. I was proud of this and I thought it was a really good first draft, just needed a bit more as it was a little short.
These are some of the Graphic organizers we used:
These were some of our critique structures:We used these to help us and others critique our writing pieces. I found all of the critiques useful except for the Scissors critique. In this one we cut up our piece by paragraphs and had them rearrange the way they saw fit, and every time they chose the same way as I did it.
Here is a link to my final draft. I was very proud of this piece for many reasons. First, I expanded my writing style to make this piece more satirical and funny than my usual informative "I am always right" tone that I normally have. This was something that took a lot of polishing to make it work right.
Overall, this was a project I am proud of for many reasons. First, I made one, if not my best, pieces of writing for thsi project. Second, I can say I am the author of a book, which is really cool. When I first started the project I had no clue what I was going to write about, and I initially picked donald trump because I thought he was a complete joke and I wanted to know why he was so high on the polls. I liked the satirical style of writing I talked about earlier and will use it in the future because it made the writing more fun. Overall, I am happy with this project and its outcome.
