writing
My at this moment I am essay was the first full essay I wrote here at High tech. We were to start the essay by saying "At this moment I am…'' and finishing the sentence, then building the essay from there. After peer critiques, we finalized and turned in our essay. Ms. Britt then gave them back to us and we revised them one more time before posting them in front of our classroom. We did this on the third week of school.
At This Moment I Am Packet
At This Moment I Am Final
I was very reluctant to start my essay, as seen by my first sentence. My original was very much a rant about how much I hated writing. After much refinement, I am proud of this piece because I think it will show my growth well because though it is good, I know I can do better.
Our anthropological case studies were done the week after our At this moment I am essays. In them we interviewed someone, in my case Francisco Gutierrez, and wrote an essay about them from an anthropological view. This means examining their heritage, culture, and why they behave and act the way that they do.

Anthropological case study final
I found this case study to be quite fun. I enjoy interviews and interviewing, so I feel like I did really well with this essay. Francisco has an interesting sense of humor and was a fun person to interview. I was really proud of this essay and I feel like I did a wonderful job.
Our original poem was the final poem in a poem unit we did in class. We did poems including haikus, carpe diems, elegies, and free verse poems. We did peer critiques, and then chose our best poem. We presented this poem to the class, our first presentation for the class.

Original poem final
I was super proud of my poems. I don't consider myself to be much of a poet, and I thought the product I put out was actually quality. I am fairly comfortable with public speaking, as I have a good bit of practice, but not necessarily doing spoken word for a class. I did feel like I did a very good job though.
Our promise to life poem was a first draft we made for our Dia De Los Muertos exhibition spoken word poem. We incorporated pieces from all of the people in our group's poems, so these had to be good. The final piece was performed for the school and at the final exhibition at balboa park.
Promise to life poem packet
I really liked my promise to life poem, even though not much of it was used in our final poem. Unfortunately, it had different rhyme scheme then what others in my group used, so it was hard to incorporate in. Nonetheless, I thought I had made a quality product that deserved more of it to be incorporated.
The vignettes were responses to the vignettes in The House On Mango Street. We had a packet we filled out with responses we had to write about each of the vignettes. For the assignment we chose five and edited them and typed them on our drive, in the format the way that Sandra Cisneros wrote the book.
Vignettes
I felt like I did a decent job with the vignettes. I could have spent more time refining and extending them, but I believe in quality over quantity. I also had to use only vignettes from the first packet because I was sick on Thursday and that is when I would have gotten the second packet back. I feel like I did a good job for the limited resources.
